It is to no surprise that the word calligraphy is derived from two Greek words – “kallos” meaning “beauty” and “graphein” meaning “to write”. Calligraphy is known for its elegant letterforms and when translated literally, means “beautiful writing”. As stated by the Manuscript Pen Company, “From the moment the first quill hit the first piece of parchment, humans have been looking for the most beautiful and decorative way to present their writing.”

Here at Ink & Press Co., fine art calligraphy is something we specialize in. All calligraphy seen in Ink & Press Co. work is completely done by hand by Mikyla Marie herself. Unlike many big-box stationery brands, we do not work with script fonts. The calligraphy script used for all invitation suites is written by hand, scanned, digitized, and then imported into each design – regardless if a semi-custom or custom design is selected. This is one of the many ways we guarantee heirloom-quality designs that are completely custom to each couple.

No. 01 – ELEGANT

This calligraphy script focuses on elongated lines and subtle flourishes. A taller script with more refined letterforms makes this script timeless and classic – perfect for the old-world invitation suite. This is Mikyla Marie’s signature script and the more popular of the two.

No. 02 – ORGANIC

This calligraphy script, rooted in Copperplate calligraphy, focuses on oval movements. With flowing strokes from one letterform to the next, this calligraphy script is the perfect blend of organic and romance.
